The banner above is a collage of students I've had from 1987 on...as children and as adults that are now my Facebook friends. I call them all my 'Papafritos', a pet name I picked up from my 8th grade Spanish teacher, Sr. Frese. It makes me happy to see my students grow up, and to stay in contact with them.

I'm a wife, mom, teacher, and writer. I love having new adventures--traveling, researching, and learning new things. I've been teaching K-5 since 1987 as a bilingual teacher, starting in Los Angeles, and for the past 14 years in Woodburn, Oregon. I've been an adjunct professor teaching graduate courses in education since 2010.
We have two sons, aged 23 and 25, a daughter, and five grandchildren. Our older son graduated from the Portland State University School of Film and Theatre in June, 2015 and now he's living and working for a year in Australia, Tasmania, and New Zealand. Our younger son is attending Portland State University, majoring in psychology, and works as a barrista. Our daughter works as a preschool assistant and substitute teacher in Idaho.
